Old Bailey Central Criminal Court is the world’s most famous and iconic criminal court. It was opened in its current form in 1907. Some of Britain’s most famous criminals have been tried at Old Bailey Criminal Court, including Ronnie and Reggie Kray, Peter Sutcliffe (the Yorkshire Ripper) and Peter Scott, playwright Oscar Wilde, the Liberal politician Jeremy Thorpe and Lord Haw Haw.

The Old Bailey’s public gallery is open (with no admission cost) to London tourists. Public gallery is likely to fill very quickly in high-profile court cases. Anyone can attend the public galleries of London’s premier criminal court the Old Bailey to watch trials in session. Please keep in mind you can’t take in bags, cameras or mobile phones and there’s no cloakroom.
